Imagine a white-tailed eagle with a wingspan of almost 2.5 meters flying towards you and diving straight into the sea just a few meters away. This is something that gives us goosebumps every safari and something we think will give you a real “wow!” experience!
We will take you on a RIB boat tour in the Bodø archipelago. The tour takes us around Hjertøyene, past Paradisbukta and Skipsholmen. Along the way we will scout for the eagles in places we know they usually frequents. The white-tailed eagle is a wild bird of prey, so we can never be completely sure that it will appear, but we are familiar with the area and know where the nests and perching places are located. We will also bring with us a small treat that we know the eagle appreciates, so the chance of a magical close encounter with this majestic bird will increase.
White-tailed Eagle
The white-tailed eagle is, with a weight of up to 8 kilograms and a wingspan of up to 2.65 meters, the largest bird of prey in Northern Europe. The female is considerably larger than the male (around 2 kg more), but large males can be as large as small females.
White-tailed eagles became protected in Norway in 1968. Nordland is the central white-tailed eagle county in Norway, with probably more than 35% of the country’s white-tailed eagle population and thus almost 20% of the world’s white-tailed eagle population, and Bodø / Salten is the center of gravity.

Most people can participate in the RIB tour to Saltstraumen. Pregnant women and people with neck, back and pelvic problems or similar should be aware that this tour may involve shaking and bumping. You must decide for yourself whether you want to expose yourself or not. If in doubt, you can contact us or talk to the skipper before the tour.
The minimum recommended age is 6 years. This is because they should be able to sit properly in their own seat. Please contact us if you are in doubt.
It is completely safe to join us on a RIB trip. Our skippers have many years of experience and knowledge. Our goal is to let you experience nature and the sea, rather than driving as fast as possible. We want to create an enjoyable trip for everyone at a pace that everyone on board feels comfortable with.
There is room for 12 guests in each boat. If demand is high, we have the possibility to set up more boats.
There must be a minimum of 4 registered guests for the RIB tour to Saltstraumen to proceede.
